I'll never forget how charming Planes, Trains and Automobiles was. All of his stories had heart. I always wondered why we hadn't seen movies from him in recent years and after listening to a radio show, I found out that he felt Hollywood played a pivotal part in John Candy's untimely death and that he didn't want his kids to be affected by the business. There were so many wonderful movies he did. Even the ones that weren't as well known as the ones you mentioned, John Hughes really gave his comedies heart and that's what gives them staying power today. Great article!
