Introducing Tw*nkles

Tw*nkles is set to release the second single from her ‘In My Dreams‘ EP and it’s a track we’ve been glad to have on heavy rotation on the office stereo.

The New Zealand born musician found herself in limbo while attempting to finalize her move to the USA, even going as far as working alone in India and Thailand while the necessary paperwork was being processed. Following several sacrifices she’s now safely embedded into the fabric of the Big Apple but those experiences clearly have a bearing on the music she has been producing.

Blithe” begins with a restrained keyboard motif successfully building a sense of tension that is instantly released as the vocals kick in. Supported on an evocative rolling piano the track allows the songstress to soar in inspired fashion as she longs for a new romantic adventure. With a measured build up each chorus packs a suitable punch to offer the track enough variations for repeat listens.

The EP title track “In My Dreams” is a stellar continuation to the blueprint that is already established.  T*winkles once again hits us with a real sense of tension on a piano lead track laid over a haunting beat. Lyrically this one deals with the struggles and sacrifices encountered on the aforementioned move to NYC and the track’s dynamic is shaped by the simultaneous desire for a new home and the longing for what was left behind.

Tw*nkles has landed on a winning blend of vocals, piano and digital instrumentation that has me guessing we’ll be hearing a lot more from her.
