Canadian producer and recording artist Markus David relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his musical career. It sounds like the sunshine has done wonders for the Vancouver native as he continues to develop his signature “dark soul” sound (loosely defined as a blend of electronica and hip hop).
“Stay On My” sees him have the audacity to touch the A Tribe Called Quest banger “1nce Again”. In the hands of a lesser man this would have been sacrilegious but David pumps it full of deep chords, soulful sounds and warm analog sound to remain respectful to the source material while sounding fresh enough on it’s own merits.
