Newcastle 4-piece Lisbon release catchy single “Vice”

You’ve got me drinking till I’m sober” lament Newcastle four-piece Lisbon in their latest single “Vice“. We’ve all been there. but most of us – as the inevitable dull headache creeps in – seriously struggle to strike quite such a harmonious and upbeat tone as this.

A quick glance at “Vice“’s neon cover art and you know exactly what to expect from the track. It’s a bit 80s, a bit disco, a bit funk and it pops like a bastard. In other words, if you were to let Kavinsky loose on the delay-infused guitar hooks and solid grooves of a Foals track, you might just end up with “Vice“.Lisbon bandThese guys are very, very good – which is what you might expect from an act that’ll be showing off their wares at Brighton festival The Great Escape this May. One suspects their effortless catchy melodies will provide the perfect soundtrack to a sunny spring day at the seaside.

Lead singer Matthew Varty explains the song is “about being young, drunk, in love, troubled, and crazy all at the same time,” which he describes as “a recipe for an incredibly fun disaster”. I’ll drink to that.
