Having recently featured Didrik Thulin‘s wicked track “Dancer” we were keen to get to know the Norwegian vocalist better. We got together to discuss DJing country music, teacher reports and John Lennon.
Cougar Microbes: What time did you wake up today? Was it out of choice or necessity?
Didrik Thulin: Noon 😛 out of choice
CM: Describe your sound to the uninitiated?
DT: Schizophrenic pop, I’m still trying to find my style.
CM: What have been the highlights of your year (musically) so far.
DT: Releasing my first single as solo artist together with Sony Alven and did a warm up for Axwell & Ingrosso, that was really cool
CM: How do you kill time on the road when on the road? hobbies/games?
DT: I try to work with new ideas. But most of all I listen to music
CM: What have been your favourite venues to play? Any Venues you hated?
DT: I don’t care about the venue as long as it is cool and fun people to play for.
The worst gig I had was at a hotel in the countryside. Some guy tried to punch me, just because I didn’t want to play country music.
CM: you able to write on the road or do you do this in your off time?
DT: Yes, I’m always writing. I have a tendency to sing out loudly on the street into my phone when I have a new topline going on.
CM: -Is there a song you are simply sick of playing live?
DT: Not really
CM: What is the songwriting process like for you?
DT: It is different from song to song, some come easy and some take ages.
CM: Do your songs go through many revisions and demos before recordings?
DT: Yes
CM: What came first, the lyrics or the melody?
DT: Melody
CM: If you could record any cover in the world what would it be?
DT: “Cheapest flight” by Prep
CM: What are your views on auto tune?
DT: I guess it depends on the music you make. But as an effect and a tool I think its great.
We wouldn’t have Daft Punk‘s “One more time” without it.
CM: Any other artists/bands from your local scene we really should know about?
DT: Aurora of course, DePresno, Atella, Cavego and Axnes
CM: What is the most flattering thing you’ve read about yourselves?
DT: My teacher gave me a note once for my parents to read “Didrik have a tendency get lost in his own thoughts while looking out the window”
Wasn’t very flattering at the time, but in hinsight its kind of cool
CM: What was the first record/tape/cd you ever bought?
DT: haha, this is awkward…

CM: If you had to bring on artist back from the dead in exchange for sending a living artist down ,which artists would it be and why?
DT: I would definitely bring back John Lennon, in exchange. It would probably be Pitbull
