Grand Tradition offers a wonderful amalgamation of sounds on their debut EP. Over the course of 5 tracks, ‘Your Wish‘ takes on everything from groovy organic disco sounds, indie pop gems, lounge bar staples and even Santana-like latin rock.
Formed by vocalist and guitarist Anthony Wickham the 6-piece remind me of a cross between Gotye and Fat Freddy Drop in the way they offer hooks a plenty without necessarily trying to shove them down your throat. This is thanks in part to the great musicianship and the expertly delivered harmonisations which make these tracks and in particular the title track “Your Wish“, are a joy to return to.
With support from BBC Introducing already under their belt, something tells me we will be hearing more from this Cardiff collective.
