Sam Valdez offers raw, melancholic and downright seductive “It’s Alright”

As far as first impressions go “It’s Alright” represents quite the calling card for Sam Valdez and her sound. Drenched in reverb, the track is a perfect meeting point between indie rock and shoe-gaze aesthetics yet somehow transcends these genre boundaries coming across as both raw and melancholic, yet downright seductive, throughout.

Although she now calls LA her home the talented singer/songwriter originally hails from the Nevada desert and it is quite possible that some of that desert aura has rubbed off on her music. Regardless, it’s impossible to not get hooked by the chord progression and hypnotised by the majestic vocal delivery. As my Spotify plays will attest you may find yourself playing the track over and over again discovering new nuances with every listen.

We eagerly await Sam Valdez‘s debut EP due soon, in the meantime “It’s Alright” is out now.
