While this is not necessarily intended as a slight on anyone it feels like modern hip-hop is moving away from its hard-hitting roots and veering more towards an unabashedly pop territory.
For this reason, I frequently find myself returning to the absolute banger that is “It’s Delicious” by Cracker Jon and Violentlyill. Firstly the production has an old school hard-hitting feel to it that is ideal for the UK and Irish rappers to go toe to toe on. Crucially, the duo knows when to let the song breathe and when to go on an all-out attack.
Fans of the genre should have this on repeat.
