Arcade Fire Win the Album of the Year Grammy

I was delighted to see Arcade Fire won the Album Of the Year Grammy last night. Considering they were competing against the likes of Eminem, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga this was a huge achievement but ‘The Suburbs‘ deserves all the plaudits because from start to finish it is flawless.

The band blasted through ‘Month Of May‘ whilst 2 BMX riders raced around stage in what looked like mens sunglasses and video cameras for helmets. I can only imagine these are the same kids riding their bikes that the band sing about in ‘Sprawl I’ (Flatland).

The band went on to perform the brilliant ‘Ready To Start‘ where Régine Chassagne‘s delicate backing vocals proved to be positively spine tingling.

Best moment of the night besides Win Butler‘s bewildered look when accepting the award  has got to be Kanye West, who lest we forget also released an epic album, tweeting his support for the album.

For what it’s worth compared to a GrammyThe Suburbs’ was easily my album of the year as well.

I feel like music is in safe hands for a few more years.

The MashMaticians release The MashoChist

The MashMaticians is the name Messrs DJ Zesty and Gudda Gallin have been going under since 2009. The Princeton students’ output is unequivocally on the pop side of things often taking rap vocals and mashing them with a dance or R&B foundations. When it clicks it works really well.

Their debut album is entitled ‘The MashoChist’. In their own words: “MashoChist is someone who enjoys mash ups, or who derives pleasure from listening to them”.

Nuff said!

The White Panda mashup galore

It has been a while since I posted a good ol mashup on Cougar Microbes so these The White Panda mixes arrived just at the right time.  the American duo fuck around with some of the most popular hits from rap and rock’s recent heroes.

Mashups always tow a fine line between genius and cheese, if you are into this kind of thing you will love it and if you aren’t you are likely to cringe.

They say variety is the spice of life and I think The White Panda demonstrate plenty of  flair in my books
