Cougar Microbes and Lucozade head to Wakestock Festival

As we mentioned previously Cougar Microbes has teamed up with Lucozade to bring you exciting coverage of some of the UK’s most interesting summer festivals.

After attending Beach Break Live a few weeks ago we are returning to Wales for Wakestock; Europe’s largest wakeboarding festival. The sport’s biggest stars will be busting out some stunts and artists like Ellie GouldingThe Wombats, Kelis and Biffy Clyro will be doing their thing on the stage.

As always we will be bringing you a full report and some photos from our guys at the festival. For more information about the summer line up, as well as competitions and tickets check out the Lucozade Play Festivals website and FB page.

No doubt the Lucozade Energy Exchange tent will be there to hand out goodies and refreshments and hopefully the weather will be decent. Hope to see you there!

Weekend Videos: Eliza Doolittle & Friends – Millionaire

We’ve seen her “camp with the plebs” at Bestival as well as cover anyone from Cee-Lo to Coldplay so it has become a bit of a tradition on Weekend Videos to feature Eliza Doolittle.

Here she is joined by Nick Harrison and her usual band to cover André 3000 and Kelis‘ ‘Millionaire‘ From her 2003 ‘Tasty‘ album.

Tasty indeed.

Weekend Videos: Krause – Soaring Through The Starlight

Here is the latest video from Dutch electro-pop artist Krause . Shot in front of a green screen, drawn frame by frame and allegedly taking 3 months to edit I’m sure you will agree the results were worth it.

Krause herself is fresh of European tour dates with Kelis where I’m sure her attitude and melodies won over some new crowds.

Introducing The Amplifetes

The Amplifietes can be considered a sort of supergroup having shared production work for the likes of Kelis, Madonna, Grandmaster Flash and fellow Swedes Peter Bjorn and John. It is on their own effort that the 4 piece have successfully married up a skilful blend of electro pop and punk that will have you flocking to the chapel this year.

At first play the electro popiness of ‘Something New’ , clearly the stand out track, draws comparisons to Miike Snow‘s dynamism whereas ‘Whizz Kid’ manages to drive through both Elvis Costello and Kraftwerk in just over 3 minutes. Their debut single ‘It’s My Life’ has an element of Gorillaz production to it and boasts a freaky robot tripping chorus that would lead any hedonistic urbanite to the dancefloor.

With a happening sound and lyrical wit The Amplifetes are a true delight so be sure to expect more and more of them this year, in the meantime wrap your chops around their latest EP, ‘Somebody New‘, out now.
