I dont know why but this Guns ‘N’ Roses track from the legendary ‘Use Your Illusion II‘ has been popping up constantly over the past couple of months. The ostentatious video was one of the great early 90s rock n roll excesses before Axl formed The Incredible GNR Cover and Bar Mitzvah band.
Following on from the earlier post about Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip I was recently sent the above Intruder.tv interview. It’s good to hear the duo discuss the tour, album and latest single, plus you’ll get a few laughs.
Additionally, here is a remix of ‘Great Britain‘ (which we featured during the Britishelections) by London producer and DJ Run Riot. He’s given the track a mean streak.
Since we featured them back in May the girls and boy in Teenagersintokyo have continued the promotional assault for the album ‘Sacrifice‘. Their latest single ‘New Day‘ is another infectious slab of dance pop from the Sydney quintet that practically dares you not to nod your head in appreciation.
Cee Lo Green‘s video for ‘No One’s Gonna Love You‘ made quite an impression at Cougar HQ. His followup video, the eloquently titled ‘Fuck You‘, is a completely different proposition but equally as effective visually.
I’m willing to bet in some non-english speaking country this track is being played in the morning just in time for kids to hum along to on the way to school.
The kind of song you can dedicate to your ex with a smile, Catchy as fuck!
23-year- old Brighton-born artist Teej has combined Deadmau5 sounding dance melodies, vintage synths and repetitive bass lines to produce a new wave of Synthtronica.
His debut EP ‘I Got Electrocuted‘ was written post -emergency room after he, err… got electrocuted trying to fix his faltering keyboard. The very literally-named track had me worried his music would be similarly straightforward but with scratchy guitar pieces and gloomy bass lines, the track’s dense texture was anything but linear. At only 1:54 of airplay, however, the track builds but doesn’t quite reach a crescendo.
In contrast ‘Heart Timing‘ is more complete. Its glistening keyboard melodies are strongly glued together by a heart beat bass line that pulses through the track. The resulting sound is like a primitive version of Sigur Rós with a dash of depression from the Antlers’ Hospice.
Despite tracks like ‘Flying Deep‘, Teej‘s ode to snowboarding, feeling largely unfinished there is something exciting here and with some more craftwork and a live gig under his belt, he may provide a few more surprises yet.
The debut EP ‘I Got Electrocuted‘ is out now on Make Mine

My ipod spat up Saves The Day‘s classic 2001 track “At Your Funeral“. I was lucky enough to catch the band a few times on the ‘Stay What You Are‘ tour and I’m sure that anyone else who was there will hold a special place for this song.
It is hard to believe that Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros‘ album was released over a year ago now when the tracks still sound so fresh and many people are just discovering them. Still the band show no sign of slowing down.
‘Desert Song‘ is one of the more melancholic moments on the album and it’s stunning video just adds to the mystique.
‘Up From Below‘ has now been given a special Deluxe release with new tracks, videos and other bonuses. If you don’t already own a copy you should. No really, it’s that good!
