Feist Drops Three New Songs From Her Upcoming Album ‘Multitudes’

Confession time: my toddler’s obsession with Feist‘s Sesame Street rendition of the hit “1234 has led to it becoming a daily ritual in our household. I was thrilled to learn that Feist is back with a brand-new album if only to force him to listen to some new music from her!

The album was written during Feist‘s tour of the same name in 2021-2022, during which she played a series of intimate concerts aimed at bringing people together post-lockdown. The shows featured the premiere of new music and a special in-the-round performance setup. ‘Multitudes‘ is the fruit of this labour.

The album’s title is fitting, as it reflects the variety of emotions and experiences that Feist underwent over the past few years. She confronted herself and her relationships in a period of reassessment and found herself healthier and more honest with herself. The album’s 12 tracks were recorded in a custom-built studio location in Northern California‘s Redwood Forest, with contributions from musicians such as Gabe Noel, Shahzad Ismaily, Todd Dahlhoff, and Amir Yaghmai.

The three new songs released so far offer a glimpse into what’s in store for fans. “Hiding Out in the Open” is a mellow, introspective track that speaks to the struggles of being vulnerable and honest in relationships. “In Lightning” is a driving, energetic song that feels like a storm about to break. Meanwhile, “Love Who We Are Meant To” is a heartfelt ballad that speaks to the beauty of embracing who we are.

Multitudes‘ promises to be an album that showcases Feist‘s talent for storytelling and songwriting. With the album release date just around the corner, we can’t wait to see what else Feist has in store for us.
