Martin Kuiper

Martin Kuiper – “Low on Love”

Bringing back the early 2000s emo rock’s signature sound, Martin Kuiper’s “Low on Love” rolls into the present with acceptance, finely coloured by nostalgia… and wistful whistles.

Roaring guitars and well-layered polyphonic textures, interplaying with the raspy, old-world, Cobain-like vocals, give you the ultimate rock experience. The Netherlands artist chanting “I’ve never felt this way” in the chorus will definitely resonate in your brain for a long time.

Just as you are muttering the chorus to yourself, the guitar swoops back in for a sweeping solo. This is when you’ll want to turn up the speaker and create a mosh pit in your bedroom.

Apple Eyes – “Freaking Out”

I’ve walked down an evening beach many a time, but the fresh rush of water on my feet feels new every time. Apple Eyes’ “Freaking Out” has about the same effect.

The duo have skilfully divided the role of the traditional instrumentation and the deliberately unconventional vocals. And, when they do cross over, the instruments become the third voice. This experimental technique makes the overall sound uniquely distinct, which is quite difficult to come by.

Add bouncy synth, the cleanest guitar that hums the melody along with Claire, and meddling harmonies, and you’ve got this true entertainer, ready to rock.

Shaky – “Like What You See”

With possibly the most cherubic album cover we’ve ever seen so far, Shaky delivers phenomenal stream-of-consciousness-style lyrics in “Like What You See” with a vivid, almost iridescent arrangement that feels like the aural version of light on the other side of a prism.

As the track proceeds, the song structure unveils the longing and desire while setting pure-hearted expectations about the kind of person the artist is.

With a fine mix, perfect indie-coded vocals, and well-blended arrangement, this one is a breezy listen that’ll make its way to your playlist.
