The Third Degree reinterpret Duffy megahit
The whole Duffy thing went relatively unnoticed in my life so that even though I am aware of who the Welsh songstress is and could probably pick her out of a police line up I can’t say I know too much about her music. Despite this even I could not steer clear of her omnipresent hit ‘Mercy‘ when it was released and seemingly played on repeat by every cabbie in town.
Fortunately The Third Degree have stepped up to inject some much needed heart into the track. Whereas the Duffy version sounds like a slick attempt at that pseudo-vintage sound this “new” reinterpretation sounds like a long lost soul record rescued from someone’s garage sale.
Listen to ‘Mercy‘ like it is meant to sound.
