Best Coast’s ‘Crazy For You’ extends the summer

Best Coast, aka Bethany Cosentino, is bringing you lazy indie-surf-pop gems with her ‘Crazy For You‘ album which literally wrestles to keep that priceless summer vibe going.

Lead single ‘Boyfriend‘, is irritatingly catchy and will have you hitting play again and again. Another stand-out track, ‘When I’m With You‘, is so deliciously slow-paced that it would even make lying in a hammock feel strenuous.

Cosentino’s honey vocals combined with lo-fi reverb guitars provide the album with an indie haze synonymous with that of ‘Eternal Summers‘, and ‘Girls‘. Lyrically, the songstress adds a welcome punk edge to the otherwise pop-y tracks channelling Courtney Love‘s gasp at times.

Elsewhere I am reminded a little of The Breeders and their incredible ‘Last Splash‘ album. It is just too easy to like this surf-inspired album and I have no doubt they will wash up into a sea of summer playlists for years to come. One of the albums of the year,
