There is something so exciting about catching an artist as they are just starting to release their music into the world. When I first heard “Breezy Montana” by Sault Ste Marie, it conjured up so many images, so many emotions that I didn’t know where to start. But I knew it made me want to dance. So perhaps that’s the best place to start.
Newly signed to MUSICA Publishing, singer/songwriter Sault Ste Marie‘s track is the first single out of his upcoming “Brushfire Fume” EP and boy there’s a lot on there to take in!
Based around what starts as a quasi-folk set of treated guitar sounds, a gorgeous melody bursts into life from the liquid echoes and twinkles of different synthesizers and the louder-than-hell boom-clap that literally shook my desk as I listened.
What’s perfect about “Breezy Montana” is that it’s intelligent. It does it’s job emotionally after the first minute but knows it doesn’t have to remind you again. There’s a lot of space for vocals that interspersed between the breathtaking breaks of absolute rapture. This is dream-folk, but it is so much more. You’re just going to have to listen to it to know what I mean.
