Hedge delivers masterful “Money” feat. Vic Spencer

When you think of Hip Hop Minnesota is perhaps not the first place that comes to mind. Hedge is doing his bit to change that perception and if “Money” is anything to go by he is on to something good.

The track is the first single from the 22-year-old producer’s debut EP ‘Snicklefritz’ and is far removed from most of the hip-hop releases that have been peddled in the past 12 months or so, boasting an old school feel while not sounding dated. Vic Spencer is given an ideal canvas of grainy piano samples and measured electric guitars to paint his rhymes over with the rappers gravely delivery offering the perfect foil for what is undoubtedly a killer beat.

One look at the cover of the single and it’s clear that the track, with its title and drummed-across vocal refrain, has a sobering message to deliver about greed and consumption. The fact that it’s so neatly delivered with a tight beat is a welcome bonus.
