Columbus crew Snarls follow up their promising 2020 debut with a new EP titled “What About Flowers?”. Recorded in Seattle with Chris Walla of Death Cab For Cutie fame, the EP seems to signal the band’s long-term intentions.
“Fixed Gears” is the first track to be released and is a convincing throwback to the ’90s alt-rock heyday. Lightly distorted guitars and a steady rhythm pattern act as the perfect foil for singer Chlo White‘s contemplative vocals.
This is a release that is a million miles away from the writing-by-committee approach employed by certain labels and as a result, it is a million miles more satisfying to me.
