New music from Sharon Van Etten is always a reason to rejoice, particularly since we waited relatively longer than usual for “Porta” but it was worth it.
Built on layers and layers of synths the track details a dark period in the singer’s life with contemplative lyrics that explore some unwelcomed emotions. In the hands of a lesser artist, this may have come out as a bit of a downer but Van Etten manages to turn it into an opportunity to soar.
