Van Sur Les – “Soikkola”
Music that emerges out of the Netherlands carries a token of that identity without ever feeling redundant or overdone. Dmitry Surugin, alias Van Sur Les, blends Nordic and Eastern instruments to create a distinctive, fairytale soundscape in “Soikkola”.
It starts with strings that carry a story, contemporary rhythms interplaying with the sound of the dreamy Kantele, while a beady piano works with the bass to ease the tension.
The mesmerising instrumental instantly transports you to a lush, juniper-green forest with a narrow foot trail that leads you up a magical mirage mountain, where you meet a new companion as a new instrument gets introduced in the arrangement.
DJ Cards – “Lose It In The Lights”
If that mirage mountain had a dance floor, DJ Cards would be getting everyone on it with “Lose It In The Lights”. This signature dance track takes you right back to the peak David Guetta era, with airy vocals, high-energy risers, and killer synth pad choices.
The message is clear. Get up and dance, as “Lose It in the Lights” delivers the drop!

Rat – “Seventeenth Syndrome”
Absurdism is so back, and Rat’s “Seventeenth Syndrome” might be the best one yet.
With clean, trap tones, this electro-rap track has glitchy motifs, bold vocals, and the necessary pump to possess you for a while in the club.
Rat interloops festive themes with Rat’s successful discography, creating a unique, Christmassy, almost-metal conversation with bugs underground (literally). And lyrics like “Let the AI sing, I’ll just nod beneath” are as real as it gets in this digital world.
Look, the point is I can vibe to this track all day. Words like “Gregorian trap” and “gingerbread switch” may mean nothing at all, but in the era of 6-7 counter-culture, “Seventeenth Syndrome” is not looking to be meaningful. It’s looking to be part of collective memory. So squeak on, Rat!
