Nia Ray—”Hearts in the clouds

With its rapid tempo and energetic beat, this pop tune captivates listeners. “Hearts in the Clouds” includes flawless female vocals that set it apart from the rest. This song is about a yearning love, where one person can feel the love that could be if they were with the other, and the vocal harmonies and layered beats convey that feeling. It’s as if you’re at the beginning of a crush, when you genuinely believe in someone’s potential and think they may be great. The possibility exists, but it has not materialized, that it may be the two of us. So, the track maintains its hopeful, albeit heartbreaking, tone the whole way through.

FREDRYD – “Natural Things

“Natural Things” opens with a positive and upbeat melody that reminds us of the nostalgia of the late 90s. A good portion of the song is instrumental and has a breezy, dance-friendly mood; it opens with what sounds like birdsong harmonies and layered instruments, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a beautiful morning; later on, the instruments transform the song into a disco dance jam, and that ambiance remains consistent all the way to the finish. The female vocals enter midway through the song, but they blend in with the instrumentals, which ultimately determine the song’s trajectory.

Zoe Konez – “Paragon”

The emotional clarity that comes from reflecting on one’s own experiences and initially going through periods of confusion is beautifully expressed in this song. “Paragon” has the ideal balance of delicate lyrics and the moment of power and hope that the instrumentals bring in, beginning melodiously like a golden hour stroll and later balancing the lyrics with a soothing female voice that feels like it’s embracing the listener. As the first single on her alternative folk EP “Everything Is Fine,” the artist delves into the contrast between our aspirations and our actual selves. The life that transpired between them and how it shaped their character is fully explored, ending in self-discovery via emotional vulnerability.
