Olivier Cornu, the Lausanne-based writer, singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer is the creative force behind Moon Construction Kit, a musical project built around the meeting point of psychedelic pop, indie rock and a slight dose of nostalgia. Since debuting with a self-titled EP in 2022, Cornu has expanded the project’s sonic palette, shifting between dreamy textures, synth-heavy pop, psych-rock and punchier power-pop without losing its identity.
His latest single, “Right Across The USA“, comes shortly after the hazy, laidback “Down The West Coast”. The track exchanges some of that dreamy drift for a brighter, more punchy approach. Produced by Cornu, mixed by Guy Britton and mastered by Rogan Kelsey, it could make for an amazing addition to your road trip playlist, and the vibe is literally just that. Riding along the highway on a sunny day while the summer breeze caresses your face. It’s light, upbeat and full of wholesome vibes.
The track is driven by a lively combination of drums, bass, guitar and keys. The drums are steady, the bass shifty. Guitars transition between lush textures and softer dips, with the keyboards adding little pops of colour. It all comes together as a big, catchy power-pop number that could find a home on an indie festival stage.
Cornu’s vocal harmonies give the song its singalong quality. It’s also very nostalgic, which connects directly to its subject. As Cornu explains, the song explores “connection and separation”, while drawing on his nostalgia for the American culture he grew up with.

“Down The West Coast” leaned heavily into alt-folk and dream pop, using acoustic elements, glossy production and layered harmonies to create something warm and almost weightless. Earlier in 2026, “Snake Charmer” went in a completely different direction, combining psychedelic influences, electronica, classic rock and pop into something much more surreal and hypnotic.
Then there is 2025’s “Chemicals”, where indie-pop, synth-pop, alternative rock and power-pop came together with heavier guitars and crashing drums. “Long John Silver” showed Cornu at his most dream-pop focused, with rich synths, deep basslines and layered vocals.
Even the 2022 self-titled EP established this willingness to experiment, bringing together dreamy psychedelia, electronica and hypnotic pop.
This makes the new single feel like another step for Moon Construction Kit’s wider sonic style. The project may keep changing shape, but Cornu’s instinct remains consistent – take familiar sounds, twist them around and see where they lead.
