Miami on My Tongue is a bright, infectious pop song that celebrates the city with immense pride. At only twelve years old, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Soleil River Nation has done a brilliant job with this track. In fact, it has already won a prize – first place in a citywide competition to find an official anthem for Miami. After the win, Soleil brought the song to one of the most thrilling international venues in the city by performing “Miami on My Tongue” live at FIFA Fan Festival Miami 2026.
From the second that you hit play, the song bursts open with no hesitation whatsoever: “Te Amo Miami!” The melody layers bright piano notes on top of a steady strumming and adding bits of trumpet into the mix. The vocals are refreshing and joyful. The lyrics, which have also been written by Soleil River Nation, are original and honest. “Sunset painted on my lungs/ Breathing it till the night is done/ Miami on my tongue”, she sings. The lyrics – mango lipgloss, sand in your shoes, windows down – is reminiscent of long summer days, of childhood and youth. The song paints vivid pictures of bright colours, of summer flavours you can almost taste. You can feel the cool sea breeze, the bright blue ocean, the crashing waves. For the duration of those two and a half minutes, you are in Miami. The track pulls you completely into the vibrant diversity of Miami, and illustrates exactly what makes the place so wonderful. Soleil leaves nothing untouched – her lyrics captures the full breadth of the experience of the city.
Soleil River Nation is at the beginning of what is, by any reasonable measure, a musical career that is most definitely worth watching. “Miami on My Tongue” is an infectious banger. Your upbeat pop playlist is incomplete without it.
