Twice Dark – “Savage Media”
Twice Dark’s “Savage Media” has a signature analogue electro tone that’s hard to beat. With a simple melody and arrangement deliberately droning throughout the track, the heavily FX’d vocals lurk inside your ears, whispering darkness.
In a techno-dependent era, we are all aware of how manipulative media can get. Twice Dark rightly asserts, “It’s in your dreams. It’s everywhere.” And the technical aspects follow this line of thought, foregoing any rise or fall in the track, making a point on the hypnotising nature of today’s media that stops for nothing.
Wavlo – “A Stroll Through Cyber Space”
With shimmery, gooey, slime-like patches, Wavlo’s “A Stroll Through Cyber Space” is worthy of a prime spot in Andrew Huang’s Four Producers, 1 Sample series.
Wavlo takes the ironically-part-of-the-matrix interpretation to the next level with electronic FX modules that are deeply appetising. With only a base rhythm structuring all the chaotic elements around, the track finds intriguing new ways to keep you hooked with every listen.

Rowena Chadwick-Smith – “Butterfly”
10 seconds in and Rowena Chadwick-Smith manages to give you wings like no Red Bull could ever in the album’s maiden track, “Butterfly”.
The track’s got everything: delicious drops, electro mayhem, seriously good vocals, and a solidly balanced arrangement come together, producing a kickass earworm that’ll surely track you down in the club.
