Marcel Flendrie – “Awakened Arms

“Awakened Arms” flows so smoothly that it just lingers with the listener for a long time after the final note. Marcel Flendrie, with his peaceful guitar progression and the background melody textures adding deep layers, has made a wonderful track that feels like redemption after a very long day. This track is a sonic equivalent of someone giving you a warm hug, and then you are relaxing into it completely. For a moment in your life, while listening to it, the song makes you drop whatever burden you’ve been carrying. The cyclical nature of the guitar progression creates a serene, elegantly calm loop, leaving you wanting to listen to it indefinitely.

Irina Imme – “Y2K

Opening with “Welcome Back,” her new EP “Y2K” delivers a vibrant blend of melodies and high-octane pop-rock. With her melodious voice, she reintroduces 2000s pop texture through the tracks’ high-energy instrumentation, which brings the nostalgic energy, brilliantly executed in the second track, “Boxes.” This song chronicles a deeply personal journey of self-discovery in the wake of a heartbreak. The anthem about guardian one’s pride after the split, despite the longing of that person, “Rather Die” than let the other person know that I miss you, is the third song in the EP. And then comes the last song, “Spicy Kids,” which starts with gentle guitar strumming before unleashing the main vocals. She proudly rewrites who she was by refusing to be confined to the social norms of cool, instead choosing to be a spicy kid. As a rich instrumental layer rushes in, the track transforms into a pop-rock finale, with the quirkiness and the playfulness of the whole EP and its message.

Saline Grace – “The Tree of Knowledge

Saline Grace’s opening to “The Tree of Knowledge” has a dark, gothic folk sound, and the listener is enveloped with a heavy, poetic melancholy. Multi-instrumentalist Ricardo Hoffmann brings an eerie, cinematic backdrop of deep layers of somber piano and a weeping singing saw. The deep vocal delivery in spoken word captures the heartbreaking truth of aging and human mortality. The jarring contrast between the raucous laughter of youth outside and the stark reality of a hospital bed. It makes the listener think about how fast time slips and, so, how important it is to have morality and self-reflection on ourselves.

Potsherds—”The Last Day

From the very beginning, Singapore-based Myanmar rock band Potsherds transferred their high-voltage adrenaline with their single, “The Last Day.” With the thunderous drums and searing electric guitar, the soundscape of the track is completely lifting the roof off. Through the aggressive and fierce vocal delivery, the momentum of the song is kept intact throughout the song, which has dynamic 90s-style grunge instrumentation. It perfectly channels the hyper-alert energy and pushes it to the edges.

Mark Wink – “Sugar Sweet

Unfolding like the first comforting sip of a fresh morning coffee, this track wraps the listener in an instantly bright, carefree aura. Fronted by incredibly melodious vocals, “Sugar Sweet” effortlessly blends a vibrant pop influence with a nostalgic, warm 90s touch. The production is beautifully designed, allowing the whimsical instrumental progressions to act as subtle background characters that gently cover the vocal melody rather than overcrowding it. It is an exquisitely pretty piece of songwriting by Mark Wink that radiates a gentle, sunrise-like energy.
