Egger – “Get Up”
This groovy track by Austrian musician Wolfgang Egger manages to be at once something that makes you want to get up and dance like crazy at the club and something that can motivate you to get up and get on with your day when every last muscle in your body and mind are completely exhausted.
The production on this track is fantastically crisp. Each layer – whether it is the hypnotic ambient synth that kicks the song into another realm or the beat you cant help but move to – is meticulously arranged. If you’re having a particularly hard week, this track needs to become the morning alarm that kicks you off on the right foot.
French Inhaler – “Syntro”
Syntro is unabashedly theatric. It really goes all out, holding back absolutely nothing. Practiced Lines is one hell of a debut album from Chicago based trio French Inhaler, and Syntro is the best possible opening track to introduce their music.
The track opens with stunning, ambient synth sounds accompanied by percussion that reverberate throughout, becoming the backbone that holds it together. The song layers spoken word on top of the electronic music, creating an air of mystery and a certain other worldly energy that you cannot help but chase. The song offers a tantalizing taste of this world, and disappears before you’ve really gotten your fill of it, leaving you with no option but to listen to the rest of the gorgeous album.
AVYROTH – “Velocity”
Velocity, the latest single from Bucharest-based independent electronic music producer AVYROTH, opens with a familiar yet fresh arrangement of synth that drops you right in the middle of a dark club. You can picture the scene clearly – the lights, the beats, the movement. The synth-pop track moves in and out of this intensity, occasionally offering small moments of softer music. The track is steady, yet consistently evolving and surprising.
The synth heavy track features bits of percussion as well as a prominent, high energy bassline, placing it underneath the moving layers and allowing it to shine in quieter moments. This song is headbanging, hip-swinging sonic journey.
